Sky Sport Italia claims Riccardo Calafiori will be included in the Italy squad for Euro 2024, while Alex Meret or Marco Carnesecchi will join Guglielmo Vicario and Gigio Donnarumma.

Sky Sport Italia claims emerging Bologna defender Calafiori will be part of the Italy squad at Euro 2024. The product of Roma Academy has never played for Italy at a senior level before but has been among the best defenders in Serie A this season.

Calafiori can play as a centre-back or a left-back, so his inclusion in the squad will boost Spalletti’s options in defence after Destiny Udogie’s injury.

Sky Sport adds that Italy’s defence for Euro 2024 is pretty much settled and that the only change could be Juventus‘ Federico Gatti if one of the selected players suffers an injury in the coming weeks.

There is a little more uncertainty in goal even if Donnarumma and Vicario will surely be part of the team.

Napoli‘s Meret or Atalanta‘s Carnesecchi will fill the third spot, but both keepers will be included in Spalletti’s preliminary 30-man squad, which will be unveiled on Thursday, May 24. The final 26-man squad for Euro 2024 will be confirmed by June 7.
