With just 24 hours to go before Italy’s Euro 2020 opener against Turkey, Lorenzo Pellegrini pulled out through injury, while Roberto Mancini and Giorgio Chiellini held press conferences.

The final countdown is on before Friday’s game at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

The day started badly for the Nazionale, because Pellegrini was diagnosed with a muscular injury to his flexor and had to withdraw from the tournament.

He was replaced by Fiorentina midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli, who interrupted his summer vacation to join the squad.

Coach Roberto Mancini and captain Giorgio Chiellini held press conferences and spoke to various media outlets before the training session on the Stadio Olimpico turf.

Marco Verratti resumed running with member of staff Gianluca Vialli, but is unlikely to feature in tomorrow’s game after his knee injury last month with PSG.

Turkey manager Senol Gunes and Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu held their press conferences too this evening.

More details were revealed about the opening ceremony for Euro 2020, which will include Andrea Bocelli singing Nessun Dorma.
