The Azzurri won both of their last two qualifiers, but have nevertheless fallen behind the resurgent Czechs, who have risen five places, their highest ranking since August 2008.
Liberia were the most improved team, rising 65 places to 95th in the world, whereas Cyprus had the worst fall, sinking 38 places to 114th.
Argentina are still ranked as the best side in the world, with World Cup winners Germany rising to second above Belgium.
