Italy dropped down a place in the Men’s FIFA World Rankings to seventh, despite a strong start to the Nations League campaign.

The Azzurri were crowned Champions of Europe less than a year ago, in July 2021, but then also failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

There was an uptick in performances and results in the Nations League, beating Hungary along with draws against Germany and England, before their 5-2 defeat to Die Mannschaft.

FIFA released the latest World Rankings and Italy have fallen one place down to seventh, leapfrogged in the list by Spain.

Brazil remain on top, ahead of Belgium, Argentina, France, England, Spain and Italy.

The top 10 is completed by the Netherlands, Portugal and Denmark.

  1. Stop giving credence to these stupid FIFA rankings! How can you possibly rank nations this way? Ridiculous!

  2. FIFA ranking doesn’t make sense. Do the calculations involve just the senior team or does it include the youth team?because the ranking states Italy (isn’t the u-12, 19,21, etc) counts as Italy? would really like to look at the maths/formula for this ranking/ points calculations.. how about it FIFA can you make the formula public 🙂

  3. No, the Under Teams don’t get included in the Rankings. My word. 🙃

Whoever believes Italy deserves to be higher up than 7th after 1 year of trash (since July 2021) i serioualy question your sanity.

  4. italy kind of suck right now and are just trying very young unproven players. it will take a while before you can judge them
