Italy have ended the year in 6th place in FIFA’s rankings, seeing them gain four positions compared to last year.

The Azzurri were victorious at Euro 2020 in the summer, topping their group before beating Austria, Belgium, Spain and England in the knockout rounds to secure their first European Championship since 1968.

As announced by the Azzurri, Italy have risen to 6th in FIFA’s rankings, rising from the 10th place they held in December 2020. The team gained 115.77 points compared to last year, a sign of their strong progress.

Robert Mancini’s team are just ahead of 7th place Spain and behind 5th place Argentina, who won the Copa America in the summer. They also sit two positions behind Gareth Southgate’s England, who lost the Euro 2020 finals on penalties on home turf.
