Italy have drawn up the Preliminary Bid Dossier to host EURO 2032 with 11 cities ready to host games, including Milan, Turin, Genoa, Florence, Rome, Naples and Palermo.

The FIGC (Italian Football Federation) sent over the paperwork to UEFA for consideration and will continue working on the project until the final 10 candidate cities are confirmed by April 12, 2023.

UEFA are expected to assign the host nation for the competition in September or October 2023.

Italy hope that by getting the hosting rights to a major tournament, they can get the necessary funding and above all speed the bureaucratic procedure to get stadiums renovated.

The last time many of the current Serie A and B arenas had significant works were for the 1990 World Cup.

There are 11 host cities in the dossier, which will be whittled down to 10 for the final candidacy.

They are Milan, Turin, Verona, Genoa, Bologna, Florence, Rome, Naples, Bari, Cagliari and Palermo.

Curiously, Udine and Bergamo are not involved, despite – or perhaps because – they have the newest stadiums in Italy after recent work was funded by Udinese and Atalanta.

Rome’s Stadio Olimpico hosted the EURO 2020 opening ceremony along with several matches.

  1. Deeply depressing we are not in Qatar .
However when you look at our record since 2000 we have done ok. We have won 1 World Cup victor and 1 Euro victory and only Spain have a better record with 1 World Cup and 2 euros . France are equal with us and we are better than Germany who have only won 1 World Cup. No comment on England as they have zero. A different perspective
