Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario may miss Italy’s Euro 2024 qualifier against North Macedonia, forcing Luciano Spalletti to call up Atalanta’s Marco Carnesecchi.

Vicario has been in shining form this season after his €20m move to Spurs in the summer, keeping four clean sheets in his first 12 Premier League games. His strong shot stopping and acrobatic saves have quickly managed to impress his new fans in North London.

The 27-year-old’s hot start with Tottenham has led many Italy fans to call for him to become the new number one for the Azzurri, replacing Gianluigi Donnarumma, whose form has started to decline after his move to Paris Saint-Germain.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Vicario suffered from flu symptoms during the night at Coverciano and is now at real risk of missing Italy’s upcoming Euro 2024 qualifier with North Macedonia.

As a precaution, Spalletti called up Atalanta’s Carnesecchi as a possible replacement. The 23-year-old will arrive at Coverciano today.

  1. It is really absurd hat in Atalanta Carnesecchi. is Musso’s reserve. In my opinion, he is the best goalkeeper in Italy. Vicario and Donnarumma are very good, but Carnesecchi. is a phenomenon and a Beast
