There are some changes to Roberto Mancini’s Italy squad for their get-together, as Leonardo Bonucci and Lorenzo Pellegrini come in despite injuries, with Caleb Okoli and Gian Marco Ferrari replacing Giorgio Scalvini.
The coach called up a 35-man squad for this ‘stage’ at the Coverciano training ground, an opportunity to touch base and view potential new players ahead of the World Cup play-offs in March.
Atalanta defender Scalvini has been forced to pull out due to injury, so Mancini has called up two players to fill in the gaps.
They are Cremonese defender Caleb Okoli and Sassuolo’s Gian Marco Ferrari.
Meanwhile, despite being injured, Mancini has brought in Juventus defender Bonucci and Roma midfielder Pellegrini.
They will be present for the tactical lectures in order to prepare for the big matches, without being able to train.
That takes the total size of the group to 38 players currently at Coverciano.
