Italy are anxious that Gianluigi Donnarumma may be forced to miss the upcoming Nations League matches due to a finger injury.

The 23-year-old Italian shot stopper had a good game last night against Germany, but his evening ended in tears as he walked off the pitch visibly pained. Roberto Mancini commented on the injury and the importance of the Paris Saint-Germain star, saying: “He has to stay and continue playing.”

As reported by Sky Sports Italia, the Azzurri’s medical staff worked on Donnarumma’s dislocated finger for the entire evening and his availability for the upcoming Nations League matches against Hungary, England and Germany will only become clear today.

The Italian goalkeeper wants to remain with the squad and take part in the games, but everything depends on how well his finger responds to treatment today.

Alessio Cragno or Alex Meret could be brought in to replace Donnarumma should he be forced to pull out.
