Italy and Sassuolo star Domenico Berardi has undergone meniscus surgery so he will miss more than a month of action for the Neroverdi.

Sassuolo announced Berardi would undergo surgery on Friday after a medical examination highlighted the 29-year-old had suffered a sprained knee and a lesion in his medial meniscus.

Berardi underwent medical tests on Friday morning and went under the knife in the afternoon.

Sassuolo did not reveal Berardi’s recovery time, but multiple sources in Italy claim the Italy international will miss at least a month of action, returning to the pitch at the end of February.

This means Berardi will be fit for the 2024 Euros with Italy although Sassuolo are expected to release further updates on their star following today’s surgery.
