Donnarumma 6 – Just a couple of straightforward saves, got the job done quite easily.
Florenzi 6 – The Roma loanee was solid defensively, but didn’t burst forward as much. Was replaced during the half time break due to calf problems. (Di Lorenzo 46 6.5 – His runs down the right flank gave more freedom to Berardi, who made the difference in the second half.)
Bonucci 6 – Was integral with helping Italy play out from the back. The Turks didn’t create much trouble.
Chiellini 7 – The Azzurri captain had the best opportunity in the first half, but Cakir tipped his header over the bar. Commanded at the back.
Spinazzola 7.5 – Was aggressive by positioning himself further up the pitch. Was almost like an extra winger and played a key role in the Azzurri’s second goal.
Barella 7.5 – Italy’s most active midfielder even when the Azzurri struggled to find space in the first half. Managed to control Calhanoglu, who was never a threat.
Jorginho 7 – Usual fine passes from the Chelsea playmaker, an ultra-precise part of possession.
Locatelli 6 – Got the nod with Verratti and Pellegrini injured. The Sassuolo man was too slow in the first half and made mistakes too. Improved after half-time (Cristante 73 N/A)
Berardi 8 – Mancini chose him over Federico Chiesa. The Sassuolo star struggled to dribble past his opponent, but he found more space down the right flank in the second half and forced Demiral’s own goal. Picked up a knock to his calf – hopefully the injury is not too severe. (Bernardeschi 85 N/A)
Immobile 7 – Scored Italy’s second on the rebound after his shot was saved by the Turkey goalkeeper. Took the weight off his back by netting his first goal in the competition. Can boost his confidence for the upcoming games. Much needed. (Belotti 81 N/A)
Insigne 7.5 – Had the first chance of the game but his side-footed shot was wide of the far post. Was devastating when he had more space in the second half and scored the third for the Azzurri. (Chiesa 81 N/A)
