Vincenzo Italiano hopes Fiorentina can bring some of their Conference League and Coppa Italia form to Serie A with a ‘confidence boost’ against Verona.

The Viola have qualified for the Conference League Round of 16 after thrashing SC Braga 7-2 on aggregate and will also face Cremonese in the Coppa Italia semi-final in April.

“I think that result pleased everyone, as this was an objective for us and we deserved it,” said Italiano in his press conference.

“We are all happy and I hope it can boost enthusiasm for the lads, as we need to work in a more relaxed atmosphere and get back on track in Serie A.”

While Fiorentina are doing so well in the cup competitions, they are in the bottom half of the Serie A table on just 25 points and badly need to climb if they are to qualify for Europe again next season.

“An extra day to prepare can make all the difference, as Verona are a side in great form, especially on home turf. They will cause us a lot of problems and both teams will go for the victory.

“Hellas have a very aggressive form of football, they meet you man for man all over the pitch and go on the counter ferociously. If we don’t go in with the right attitude, we’ll struggle.

“We’ve said many times, we are not happy with what we’ve done in Serie A. Often it was our own fault, but the truth is we need to start picking up points and climb the table, starting from Monday.”
