“We are working with more serenity now,” Italiano said at a press conference.

“It’s not easy to earn points after so many defeats, especially when you would deserve more.

“The guys never gave up against a top team, we achieved an important result and I am really happy for my players.

“It’s frustrating to play well and earn no points, everyone was relieved, but the season is still long, I expect enthusiasm against Sampdoria.”

Spezia host the Blucerchiati at the Alberto Picco where they are still without wins so far.

“Samp have a clear identity, they are achieving good results this season. They have players who can decide games on their own, they sacrifice themselves and they counterattack well. It’s going to be a tough game.

"We must pay attention and not give the ball away, because they can be dangerous on the counter-attack" Italiano added.

Spezia have signed Riccardo Saponara on loan from Fiorentina in the January transfer window.

“He is very much motivated, but not in good shape. He’d like to play as a left winger to cut inside. We are working to put him in the best conditions. We hope he can help us.”
