The newly promoted side are back in action against Juventus on Tuesday, and the Ligurians have good memories from their last trip to Piedmont.

Spezia beat Juventus in 2006-07, when both were in Serie B, and thus guaranteed a place in the relegation play-out.

On Tuesday they are back and still fighting for safety, but this time in Serie A, whilst Juventus aim to kickstart the Scudetto race.

“The predictions aren’t on our side and we only had two days to prepare for one of the most difficult games of this League,” Italiano said at a press conference.

“But we will try to come out with our heads held high and show our qualities.”

Spezia come from a 2-2 draw with Parma last weekend and currently sit 15th in Serie A, but Italiano doesn’t want to focus on the table.

“There are 14 games left, where we must make as few mistakes as possible and focus only on what we must do on the pitch,” he said.

“We don’t have to think about the table or the points."
