Vincenzo Italiano tries to identify what is causing the Fiorentina goal drought and gives an injury update on Nico Gonzalez ahead of the showdown with Juventus.

It kicks off at the Stadio Franchi on Saturday at 14.00 UK time (13.00 GMT).

The Viola are in dire need of a boost after four consecutive games without scoring between Serie A and the Europa Conference League play-offs.

“We are going from not being able to enjoy the fantastic performance against Napoli to shelving the disappointment with our defeat to Udinese,” said Italiano in his press conference.

“We mustn’t get too negative or positive, but learn from everything we go through. Udinese was a really avoidable defeat, we need to really battle with Juventus.”

Giacomo Bonaventura is on compassionate leave following the death of his father, as the funeral is tomorrow, while Nico Gonzalez is not 100 per cent fit.

“Gonzalez had this issue with his heel and it continues to cause him problems, as one day it seems fine, the next the pain returns. We’ll see how he feels tomorrow, but he hasn’t trained properly for 10 days and I hope he can recover as quickly as possible.”

Luka Jovic was brought in from Real Madrid and has struggled with a visible lack of confidence, including when clear on goal.

“There are some players who at this moment cannot play two games in six days and Jovic is one of them. We rested him midweek and I think he can be fresh tomorrow to face Juventus.

“We tend to get into the final third well, but then can’t finish our chances. We simply have to do better in front of goal.”

It is rumoured that Juventus could rest former Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic, who scored two free kicks in the last two games.

“We need to limit the service that Juventus get to their strikers, close them down at the source. Nothing is to be taken for granted, we go into battle and know what this game means for Florence, for the table and for us. There is certainly no lack of motivation.”
