Vincenzo Italiano is reportedly on the verge of agreeing to become the new coach of Bologna after leaving Fiorentina.

Negotiations had stalled in recent hours and there were suggestions the club could begin to look elsewhere.

However, Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia now claim that talks reached a breakthrough when the Rossoblu gave the coach a deadline to give the all-clear.

An announcement could be as early as Wednesday with Italiano taking over from Thiago Motta.

Italiano quit Fiorentina, set for Bologna

It was only on Sunday evening, following a 3-2 victory away to Atalanta, that Italiano finally confirmed he was leaving Fiorentina at the end of a three-year spell.

That saw him reach the Coppa Italia Final and two consecutive Conference League Finals, losing all of them.

Fiorentina announced today that they have hired former Monza boss Raffaele Palladino at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Bologna have qualified for the Champions League after finishing fifth in Serie A this season under Thiago Motta.

DAZN expect this to be a two-year contract worth €2m per season.
