Vincenzo Italiano has reportedly decided to leave Fiorentina at the end of this season and Maurizio Sarri has been linked as a possible replacement.

The 46-year-old Italiano has just over three months left on his contract with the Viola, having arrived in the summer of 2021 following a successful two-year spell with Spezia, where he impressed with his positive brand of 4-3-3 attacking football.

Italiano has done well over the last three years with Fiorentina, guiding them to a seventh-place finish in his first season before following that up with second-place finishes in the Europa Conference League and Coppa Italia in his second term.

As reported by Michele Criscitiello of Sport Italia, Italiano has decided to leave Fiorentina when his contract expires in the summer, regardless of the results achieved by the club in the coming months.

The 46-year-old tactician is keen for a new adventure and has been floated as a possible option for Napoli, who need to decide whether to try and strike a long-term deal with Francesco Calzona or move on to a new coach.

For Fiorentina, they’ll stick by Italiano until the end of the season before signing his replacement. Sarri, fresh from his resignation at Lazio, has emerged as a candidate, keen to return to his hometown of Faella in Tuscany.
