Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Italiano says Igor is not available for tomorrow’s match against Cremonese, while Luka Jovic ‘will help’ the Tuscans.

Fiorentina begin the season at home tomorrow facing newly-promoted Cremonese.

“It’s the first match of a great adventure. We start at home, in front of our people, and want to do well,” the Tuscans’ coach said.

“Everyone is key, we have many matches to face. We want to progress in Europe and have more matches to play. We’ve been working together for a year, this is an advantage that we can take to the pitch.

“We need to stay focused and confirm what we did last season. I don’t hold back, I want to give all the best to the fans and the club.”

There’s excitement in Florence to see the new striker Luka Jovic in action.

“Jovic is a No.9 who links up with his teammates and works hard. He is really strong and he will help us along with Arthur Cabral,” said Italiano.

“Igor isn’t well and he won’t be available tomorrow. We don’t want to take any risks. On the other hand, Nico [Gonzalez] and Alfred Duncan are available.”

President Rocco Commisso returned to Florence yesterday after spending several months in the USA.

“We welcomed him with big applause,” revealed Italiano.

“Like all of us he wants to start off on the right foot. He thanked us for what we achieved last summer and motivated us to do even better.”
