Napoli seem set to split with Gennaro Gattuso after the current campaign and Italiano has been mentioned as a possible successor at the Stadio Diego Maradona.

Spezia won promotion to Serie A last term and have continued to impress in the top flight this season, but Italiano said he only focuses on the Ligurians.

“I’m only thinking about Spezia. We have brought a breath of fresh air,” he told Il Secolo XIX. “We started late after the playoff, we played far from our best.

“Our budget is at the bottom of the table, but we are out of the relegation zone and right now, that’s a small miracle.”

Spezia sit 15th in the table after 28 games, seven points above the drop, and prepare to face Lazio this weekend.

“On Saturday, we have Lazio and my thoughts are on today,” Italiano continued. “Then we’ll see.

“I’m happy when they show our identity in the games, it means we have a positive attitude.”
