Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Italiano insists the final part of the season is more important than his future at the club.
The Tuscans qualified for the Conference League Round of 16 on Thursday after a 1-1 draw against Maccabi Haifa on Thursday at the Stadio Franchi,
“We are happy. We are among the best eight clubs in the competition, and we’ll face strong sides for a second season in a row because the level has risen,” Italiano told Sky Sport Italia.
The Italian tactician had received a one-match ban after an away 4-3 win last week.
“There’s too much suffering in the stands. I hope it won’t often happen, and I will do everything not to make it happen,” he admitted.
Nico Gonzalez started the match, Antonin Barak found the net and Dodo returned to action after a knee injury, coming off the bench in the second half.
“Dodo is pushing hard, and if he puts in intensity, he can be an important player. Now we need everyone, and having him is an added value,” noted Italiano.
“Nico is fit, but today’s match wasn’t high-intensity. He is getting back in shape, and he can give us a lot.
“Toni [Barak] is also improving and can give us a lot when he’s at his best. Mandragora is more focused than over the last few months. It’s March, and we are still involved in three competitions, so we need many players.”
Lastly, Italian was asked for updates on his future.
“This final part of the season is too important. We want to repeat ourselves. It’s not easy, but that’s the target,” he replied.
“I am on good terms with the club, and we often talk. The important thing is to end well and give our president a trophy.”
