The Aquilotti gained survival in their first-ever Serie A campaign with a game to spare after a 4-1 win against Torino.

“The ownership changed during the January transfer window and we couldn’t strengthen the team, apart from Saponara,” Italiano told Sky Sport Italia.

“It wasn’t a detail, it was a further difficulty we had to face. This club is made of passionate people, it is crucial to have gained survival. Now we’ll see which are the plans for the future.”

The coach celebrated the achievement with Spezia fans at the end of the game.

“The new board hasn’t called everyone yet, we must see what they want to do. I feel well at Spezia, especially after this survival,” Italiano concluded.
