Vincenzo Italiano knew that Fiorentina let Juventus off the hook in their tough 1-1 draw in Florence this afternoon.
The Bianconeri took the lead early thanks to new signing Arkadiusz Milik and Mattia Perin also proved the hero after saving a Luka Jovic penalty in the first half. Christian Kouame’s equaliser was key for Fiorentina but they failed to find a winner in the second half, despite Juventus’ uninspiring play.
Speaking to DAZN after the match, Italiano first reacted to the draw with Juventus.
“I’m between angry and regretful. In these matches you have to score when the opponent is on the ropes. We created a lot but we have to attack the penalty area better and we have to score goals.
“The performance remains. We played good games in these five fixtures and collected little, I hope then we can collect more.”
The Fiorentina coach revealed what he told the fans after the full-time whistle.
“They asked me why I took off Kouame, I explained that he asked for the change, that’s why I took him off.”
He reflected on the Viola’s performance against Juventus.
“The boys gave their souls today, despite the great heat. Like against Napoli, but even there we only got a draw. However, we certainly played a good game.
“I’m sorry, because we work for these matches here. We know how to hurt the opponent, but then in the match we create particular situations.”
Finally, Italiano discussed Luka Jovic’s missed penalty.
“We also missed a penalty, I’m disappointed because it could’ve given us the three points. Jovic we’re waiting for him, the mistake isn’t a problem, we’re waiting for him.
“He has to keep working and have the right attitude. It’s normal that there are moments of ups and downs.”
Massimiliano Allegri was also not too impressed with his team’s performance after the draw. The Juventus coach will have to work hard to find answers fast, especially with the team’s Champions League campaign kicking off next week with a trip to Paris to face PSG.
the fact agnelli didn`t get him and we are stuck with Octagon is a disgrace and we are a laughing stock.
One manager is angry because he wanted the win, while the other ‘manager’ played for the draw. Can someone please remind Allegri that it’s not the 70’s and that a win is worth 3 points not two! 6 lost points in 5 games is not good enough if you are striving to win the scudetto.
