Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Italiano is disappointed by the Tuscans’ performance against Viktoria Plzen ‘but the result was positive.’

Fiorentina were held to an away 0-0 draw by Viktoria Plzen on Thursday in the first leg of the Conference League quarter-finals.

“We wanted a different performance today. It wasn’t good enough, but the result was positive,” Italiano said at a post-match press conference.

“We must do more in attack. It’s not the first time Plzen has defended like this and not conceded. There aren’t other options. We must do more in some situations, which we saw today as well.”

Did he expect more from Andrea Belotti?

“Andrea can do much more, but today’s game was tough because they sat deep trying to close all spaces,” replied Italiano.

The Fiorentina boss denied he hadn’t shaken hands with the opposing coach, Miroslav Koubek.

“We shook hands after the end of the game. I told him that I’d be waiting for him in Florence, and he said he’d come,” concluded Italiano.
