According to reports in Russia, the race for the vacant position with the Russian national team is between a trio of Italian Coaches.

As relayed in the Gazzetta dello Sport, the Russian Football Union are reportedly keen Zenit St Petersburg’s Luciano Spalletti, currently unemployed Fabio Capello and Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini.

Capello and Spalletti have had differing reactions through the media to the position and whilst Mancini’s position with City is one he is unlikely to want to leave, Sports.ru believe money will be made available to tempt all three tacticians.

Reportedly, the role with Russia will come with a six-year contract, which will take the team up to and including the 2018 World Cup that the country is hosting and will pay  €7.5m per season. Mancini is believed to be on €6m a year at City, whilst Capello’s last role with the England national team paid £6m per annum. Spalletti, meanwhile, is understood to be on €3m a season.
