The Italia Super Cup between Juventus and Lazio will again be held in Saudi Arabia, confirmed Lega Serie A CEO Luigi De Siervo.

Last season there was controversy when the trophy went to Juve, beating Coppa Italia Finalists Milan in Jeddah, amid growing concerns over the political and humanitarian situation.

“We have a contract with them for three editions of the Super Cup and one has already been played in Jeddah,” assured Lega Serie A chief De Siervo on Radio 24.

“The Lega wants to respect its contract. We are not battling Saudi Arabia and only a specific request from the two clubs would prevent us playing there.”

Another reason for the protest against Saudi Arabia is cybercrime, more specifically ‘stealing’ footage from live games on pay-per-view channels.

“There is a great deal of worry, as we must start to let people know this sort of attitude is criminal. We are trying to work with hosting providers and that allow streaming, with fans all over Europe tuning in to illegal content.”
