Il Corriere dello Sport confirms Manchester United are ‘ready’ to pay Kim Min-jae’s release clause, signing the Korean centre-back from Napoli in July.
Kim is one of the most wanted centre-backs in Europe after his first season at the Stadio Maradona. La Repubblica reported earlier this week that the 26-year-old doesn’t want to remove a €50-60m clause included in his contract with the Partenopei.
Now, according to Il Corriere dello Sport (Saturday’s printed edition, page 2), Manchester United are ready to pay his release clause which is only valid for foreign clubs in the first two weeks of July. Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli described Kim’s release clause a few months ago, saying that it’s worth at least €50m, although it can vary depending on the revenue of the potential buyer.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Manchester United will have to pay circa €60m to sign Kim this summer.
The South Korean defender joined Napoli from Fenerbache last summer for only €18m, replacing Kalidou Koulibaly.
