Ainsley Maitland-Niles was among Roma‘s worst players in the Giallorossi’s 3-4 loss against Juventus, but Italian sports papers also criticised Roger Ibanez and José Mourinho.
Roma were leading 3-1 with 20 minutes to go but somehow managed to lose the game, conceding three goals in just seven minutes and with Lorenzo Pellegrini fluffing a late penalty kick.
José Mourinho had highlighted Roma’s mentality issues after the match, but Italian sports papers pointed out that the Special One is supposed to solve Roma’s woes.
The Special One ‘can’t correct Roma’s personality problems’ according to La Gazzetta dello Sport that rated the Portuguese coach 5/10.
Il Corriere dello Sport was even harsher with a 4.5 rating. ‘The Special one could not find remedies as Roma collapsed in the final minutes of the game,’ the Rome-based paper wrote.
Mourinho was clearly not the only one on the naughty list. Ainsley Maitland-Niles’ Serie A debut was not one to remember.
According to Tuttosport he was the worst player on the pitch (4.5/10), while La Gazzetta and Il Corriere dello Sport gave him and Roger Ibanez the lowest ratings (5/10).
According to Italian sports papers, the Arsenal loanee struggled to control Federico Chiesa and was at fault for at least two of Juventus’ four goals.
The 24-year-old had arrived in Rome on Friday and only trained once with his new team before making his debut with the Giallorossi yesterday.
