Italian media give verdict on Vlahovic and De Ligt after Juventus’ draw against Atalanta

Italian media praised Dusan Vlahovic for his performance against Atalanta, but the best Juventus player at the Gewiss Stadium last night was Matthijs de Ligt.

The Old Lady rescued a point against La Dea thanks to a late Danilo goal. Dusan Vlahovic failed to find the net in his third game with the Bianconeri, but Italian sports papers still praised the 22-year-old for his performance in Bergamo.

He was rated 6.5/10 by Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport, while La Gazzetta dello Sport gave him 6/10.

Vlahovic had a tremendous impact at Juventus, scoring on his debut against Hellas Verona and causing a late own goal against Sassuolo in Coppa Italia, which helped his side qualify for the semi-finals.

Italian papers highlighted how the former Fiorentina striker ‘helped the team’ holding the ball up front and was denied by Marco Sportiello twice.

However, the Bianconeri’s best player on the pitch was De Ligt who got 7.5 on Gazzetta and Tuttosport and 7 on Il Corriere dello Sport, the same rating as Danilo.

The Netherlands international ‘was everywhere,’ wrote Tuttosport, and cancelled out all the possible danger caused by Atalanta.

  1. Amazing what the addition of Vlahovic has already done for the team. You can see they are more confident in attack now and actually getting plenty of chances in the final third with plenty more of the ball in the opponents final third. This in turn has reduced the pressure on the defence allowing the space and time. The keeper is still not great from long range but atleast he should see less of the ball now. Juve arent that far of a title push now…..

  2. Some commenter here, i’m not calling names; must be on a high from valentine’s roses I’m guessing.
Let’s see in a couple of weeks.

  3. Juventus are grossly OVERRATED. Atalanta have been terrible at home in casa, tooth pulling for us fans, failing to sides like Cagliari, Fiorentina, Villareal Milan and others hardly world beaters.Juventus had all their fire power and Zapata was a very important absentee for Atalanta yet the Old Lady failed. Does the OLD Lady need to import even more personnnel? I also note that the AGGREGATE score between the two is Atalanta 2-1 despite the enormous gulf in salary expenditures. That says something right there.

  4. I watched the match and thought both sides showed quality.

The only thing that kept running through my head was Juve have DV, AM and PD upfront , easily the most expensive trio of forwards in Serie A. Atalanta not even deploying a striker.

  5. @Watson. Juve have been struggling for the last few seasons. Now they’re doing slightly better. Nobody is over rating them.
