With growing rumours about Victor Osimhen’s Napoli exit, an Italian outlet explains why Chelsea would be the ‘most logical’ option for the Nigerian striker in January.

Osimhen’s agent Roberto Calenda has threatened to take legal action against the Partenopei following a TikTok video posted by the Serie A giants. It later emerged that two videos infuriated the Nigeria international who is still expected to start against Udinese at the Stadio Maradona tonight.

In the current scenario, growing rumours suggest Osimhen will leave Napoli in January, mainly because he has not yet extended his contract, which expires in June 2025.

Italian news outlet Calciomercato.com explains that Chelsea would be the ‘most logical’ option for Osimhen if he leaves the Stadio Maradona in the January transfer window.

Bayern Munich were interested in Osi last summer but eventually signed Harry Kane for over €100m. Likewise, PSG signed Gonçalo Ramos from Benfica, Manchester United got Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta, while Serie A clubs don’t seem to have the financial power to secure Osimhen’t signature, provided Aurelio De Laurentiis agrees to sell him to a rival.

Arsenal could be an option too, but according to Calciomercato.com, a move to North London would be more feasible over the summer, while Real Madrid are expected to sign Kylian Mbappé at the end of the season.

Saudi clubs already tried to sign Osimhen last summer, but ADL wanted more than €200m and the Nigerian forward seems inclined to remain in Europe.

On the other hand, Chelsea have an almost unlimited budget, and their poor start to the season suggests they’ll be looking for even more reinforcement in January. Therefore, according to Calciomercato, a January move to Stamford Bridge would be the “most logical” option for Osimhen if he leaves the Stadio Maradona in the winter transfer window.
