Italian media all say the same thing about Sanchez’s red card

Alexis Sanchez’s second yellow card against Liverpool caused controversy, but all Italian sports papers blame the Inter striker, not the referee.

The Chile international was given his marching order just one minute after Lautaro Martinez’s goal in the second half. He was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Fabinho, causing a massive debate on social media and among football pundits.

Former Juventus and Arsenal star Thierry Henry believes that ‘if you play football, that is never a yellow card,’ but the Italian media have a different view on the incident. Sanchez was named the worst Inter player at Anfield by Gazzetta, Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport.

He was rated 4/10 by Gazzetta and Tuttosport and 4.5 by Il Corriere dello Sport. All the papers say the same thing about Sanchez’s foul. The striker was ‘too impetuous’ in his attempt to win possession, which cost him a second yellow card. La Gazzetta said Sanchez’s foul was ‘useless’ and ended Inter’s dream just one minute after Lautaro’s goal.
