Gigio Donnarumma has been in the spotlight due to some mistakes with PSG over the last week, but Italian journalist Fabio Caressa defends the former Milan keeper: ‘He’s been destroyed and it’s unfair.’

Donnarumma had been blamed for goals conceded against Monaco and Newcastle last week and was sent off in a Ligue 1 match against Le Havre on Sunday, raising questions on his starting status at PSG.

Luis Enrique defended the ex-Milan star, saying that Gigio had followed his instruction, so he was the one to be blamed for the goalkeeper’s red card.

Nevertheless, criticism of the Italy international has continued on social media, where Gigio continues to be targeted by Milan supporters.

Sky Sport Italia’s Fabio Caressa, one of the most influential and popular journalists in the country, took a stand in defence of the Italy international on Sunday.

“I want to say something about Donnarumma,” he said, as quoted by TMW.

“They are destroying him, but games must be watched entirely. He makes errors sometimes, but he could make ten decisive saves other times. I understand Milan fans but, following this sentiment, he’s being destroyed, which is unfair. If they just keep showing errors and not some incredible saves, it’s unjust.”

Donnarumma left Milan in 2021 to join PSG on a free transfer.

The Italy international has kept nine clean sheets in 19 appearances with PSG this season, conceding 18 goals.

  1. Miserable, blood suckers. Some ppl you can never please. Do 10 good things and ppl forget if you make 1 mistake. He’s still young, but he’s a good keeper
