‘It had never happened’ – Ancelotti on Real Madrid disallowed goal and Bellingham red card

Carlo Ancelotti asked for an explanation from Jesus Gil Manzano after the Spanish referee disallowed a late winner to Jude Bellingham against Valencia and revealed why the English midfielder was sent off after the final whistle.

Real Madrid were held to a 2-2 draw by Valencia on Saturday night but saw a late Bellingham goal controversially disallowed in the very final stages.

Referee Gil Manzano blew the full-time whistle after ex-Milan star Brahim Diaz had delivered a cross for Bellingham, who found the net with a header at the far post.

Ancelotti joined his players on the pitch, asking for an explanation from the match official while Bellingham was shown a straight red card for dissent.

The Italian tactician looked calm at a post-match press conference and said Bellingham hadn’t insulted the referee, but only said ‘It’s a fu**** goal.’

Ancelotti, an ex-Milan, Parma and Juventus tactician also admitted he had never witnessed anything similar in his career.

“Something unprecedented happened. It had never happened to me,” he said.

Ancelotti’s Real Madrid remain La Liga leaders with a seven-point lead over Girona who have a game in hand.
