Iran assistant coach Rahman Rezaei has recently suggested that Porto striker Mehdi Taremi is interested in a potential move to Inter in the January transfer window.

Rezaei, who had turned out for Perugia, Messina and Livorno during his playing days, recently spoke to SportItalia, confirming that Taremi had been flattered by interest from Serie A over the course of the summer.

The Iran international had been subject of reported interest from Milan, although Inter had also been weighing up a move as they sought a replacement for the outgoing Romelu Lukaku.

However, Porto’s strong demands fended off an immediate transfer for Taremi, whose current contract with the Portuguese giants is set to expire at the end of the 2023-24 season.

As reported by Calciomercato.com Rezaei told SportItalia that Taremi is ready to make the step up to a ‘big team’ and could be ready to move as early as the January transfer window.

“In August he was ready to go to Milan. I spoke with him about his future, the time has come for him to leave Porto. He feels ready to make the leap in quality to a big team, as early as January if there is the possibility,” Rezaei said.

He continued: “I spoke to him about the transfer rumours with Inter and he told me he is focussed on doing his best in the next few months and then he will (be ready to) leave.

“He really likes the Inter idea, he was very happy with the news. Inter are at the top of the table, he would really like to go to such a strong team.”
