Simone Inzaghi’s Inter host Salernitana at the Stadio Meazza tonight and the Nerazzurri coach could rest three key players ahead of their Champions League match against Liverpool next week.

The Serie A champions haven’t scored in the last four games across all competitions and collected just two points in the last four league games. They face last-placed Salernitana at San Siro tonight, but a victory is not to be taken for granted as the Granata have earned more points than Inter in 2022.

Probable line-ups: Inter vs. Salernitana

Nevertheless, Inzaghi will rest at least three regular starters tonight. Ivan Perisic is likely to be replaced by Matteo Darmain at left-back. Robin Gosens is available but is still not fit to start. He made his Inter debut in the Coppa Italia derby against Milan on Tuesday. Stefan de Vrij or Milan Skriniar could also start on the bench. The Netherlands international hasn’t been at his best lately, so he is more likely to be benched with Andrea Ranocchia starting in a three-man backline.

Hakan Calhanoglu will also start on the bench with Roberto Gagliardini in the middle of the park. Arturo Vidal should replace the suspended Nicolò Barella at Anfield Road on Tuesday, while both Edin Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez will start up front tonight.

El Toro hasn’t yet scored in 2022, while Dzeko netted only twice in the last nine Serie A matches. Inter’s hopes to qualify for the Champions League quarter-finals are still alive despite a 2-0 loss against Liverpool in Milan in the first leg in February.

  1. Common Chinter! Let crush these italian owner. They are crap at managing teams. They cannot even manage themselves.

  2. Why on earth rest players for the Liverpool game? Inter have about 0,000001% of going through even with the strongest 11.

If anything they should be resting players in the Liverpool game, just play a team of backups/youngers, since it’s a meaningless game.

Inter are in full crisis mode in serie a. forget about Liverpool. Inter need their best players to get on track in serie a if they are to have a hope of winning the title

Imagine not getting 3 points tonight against salernitana due to resting players for an irrelevant cl game, that would a joke.

  3. Might this show just how of a low level coach Inzaghi is. The match against relegation team has much more importance than facing the favorate of CL and PL club. Anyone with half a brain will know it. The logical thing to do is start with the best players so they can win the match early then rest them in the second half. But those key players will end up being used anyways when the match needs a goal

  4. @everyone

Its professional to try to win it at Liverpool till the end. If he would approach the Liverpool game with the mindest which you suggest, he is out of the door by tomorrow.

  5. At least Inter got the better Chinese owner. Do Milan fans already forget about their money laundering ownership businesses?
No one even remembers how millions spend and got washed by unknown Milan owners in one year in favor of Goldman Sachs and Elliott.
the dignity of this club is as high as Pepsi. Bravo
