Simone Inzaghi is set to sign a contract extension with Inter that’ll tie him to the club until 2024, despite failing to defend the Scudetto this season.
The 46-year-old Italian coach joined the Nerazzurri last June after his contract expired with Lazio, and many fans were concerned following the departures of key figures like Antonio Conte, Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi. Inzaghi did well in his debut campaign, winning both the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana, but he failed to defend the team’s Scudetto.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Inter president Steven Zhang appreciates Inzaghi’s work and he wants to reward him after a strong debut season; the Italian coach’s new deal will expire in 2024 and his salary will rise from €4m to €5.5m net per season, with the contract also containing a one-year extension clause.
Inzaghi is expecting a number of reinforcements to arrive this summer as he looks to win his first league title as a coach with Inter next season.
