There is intense confusion after the same three players tested positive for UEFA and in a laboratory in Rome, but negative in the Avellino lab that Lazio tend to use for their Serie A tests.

“I think they’ll be available, although there is uncertainty, because things change from one moment to the next,” said Inzaghi in his press conference.

“There are some objective problems, we know how rigid our President is in ensuring the rules are followed. We are following the protocol to the letter, so any suggestions we are breaking the rules are totally unfounded.

“This external criticism just allows us to come even closer together as a team. All we can do is perform on the pitch and wait for good news from the club.”

Luis Alberto is also back in action after he was positive, but his latest test came back negative.

“He has been training at home, I will evaluate him, Manuel Lazzari and Djavan Anderson today and will try to put some fresh legs in, as we’ve had limited options.

“Honestly, we’ve achieved miracles over the last few games, as we had 13 outfield players available for the Champions League, but we are going beyond the difficulties and obstacles. The lads are fantastic.

“I have learned to always have Options A, B, C and D ready. I analysed Juve over the last few days, they are doing very well in my view and Andrea Pirlo has excellent ideas. His staff is well-prepared too, with Igor Tudor and Roberto Baronio. Juventus are still the strongest team in Italy, in my view.”

Lazio were the main challengers to Juventus last season, before falling behind in the wake of the lockdown, beating them in the Italian Supercup.

“We had some great clashes with Juve, winning twice and losing once. Juve have changed, they brought in more quality, but they remain the team to beat,” continued Inzaghi.

“It’s too early to say who will be the Scudetto challengers this season. I can only say tomorrow is a very important match for us, we need to put in the perfect performance.”
