Inzaghi: ‘That’s why Inter signed Calhanoglu’

Simone Inzaghi assures Hakan Calhanoglu is ‘doing what we signed him for’ after providing a goal and three assists in Inter’s 6-0 win.

The Nerazzurri made quite a statement by flattening Serie B side Crotone 6-0, especially as the Squali were in Serie A last term.

Calhanoglu was the star of the show with one goal and three assists for Martin Satriano, Federico Dimarco and Andrea Pinamonti.

Stefano Sensi and Marcelo Brozovic completed the rout.

“I am satisfied, the team played a very good game after three weeks of intensive training,” the coach told Inter TV.

Turkey international Calhanoglu is beginning to look like a steal, picked up as a free transfer from city rivals Milan this summer.

“Calhanoglu is doing what we signed him for, and he did very well today, as did all his teammates. We immediately got the measure of our opponents and developed our forward play effectively.”

Youth team striker Satriano, who has been compared with fellow Uruguayan Luis Suarez, was on target yet again in pre-season.

“He’s an interesting lad and works hard every day. He’s earning the playing time with his performances in each training session.”

Romelu Lukaku had his pre-season debut off the bench today, as the Inter squad gets closer to completion.

Ivan Perisic and Matias Vecino are back in training, while Lautaro Martinez, Nicolò Barella and Alessandro Bastoni will return on Monday after winning the Copa America and UEFA EURO 2020 respectively.
