Serie A coaches were polled on the revelation of the season so far and who they predict will win the Scudetto, but Inter boss Simone Inzaghi gave a surprising response.

We have now reached the midway stage of the campaign and Inter have been crowned Winter Champions, while Fiorentina are in fourth place and Bologna just one point behind them in fifth.

Italpress spoke to 14 of the league’s 20 coaches to ask them three very simple questions: team revelation of the season, surprise player of the campaign so far and who will win the Scudetto.

Bologna, Genoa, Juventus, Lazio, Monza and Roma did not send in their replies to the questionnaire, but the others did – mostly.

This is because while Inzaghi was happy to tip Frosinone as the surprise outfit and Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee as a revelation, he left the answer blank when it came to the Scudetto.

That is likely to be pure superstition, seeing as the majority of 12 tipped his Inter to take the title.

Only Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini chose Juventus, while Cagliari boss Claudio Ranieri hedged his bets by saying it would be one of those two.

Even Milan coach Stefano Pioli put his support behind rivals Inter to win the Scudetto.

Bologna received 11 votes as surprise team of the season, with three going to Frosinone.

Zirkzee also topped the poll as the most revelatory player with seven votes, as only Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson got remotely close on two.
