Simone Inzaghi was all smiles after a lengthy dinner meeting with President Claudio Lotito and seems intent on extending his contract with Lazio, despite interest from Inter.

The coach had been irritable with his club directors, complaining he had been made to wait 18 months for the deal to be finalised.

His contract is due to expire on June 30 and Inzaghi said he would only have waited this long because of his great love for Lazio, where he spent most of his playing career too.

According to multiple reports including Sky Sport Italia and Tuttomercatoweb, Inzaghi has decided to extend his contract with Lazio to June 2024.

He’ll learn €2.2m per season, a slight increase on his current salary.

Inzaghi was all smiles after the first part of the meeting, as he told reporters that they were “going to dinner.”

The coach, President and director of sport Igli Tare had dinner and continued the negotiations at the club’s Formello training ground.

Inzaghi had been the main candidate for the Inter job after Antonio Conte terminated his contract by mutual consent today.
