“There are many hidden dangers in the game with Cagliari,” warned the coach in his press conference.
“The Sardinians aren’t picking up many points, but their performances have been good, they play impressive football and have a lot of quality. They certainly don’t deserve their current status in the table.
“We expect them to adapt their tactical system to mirror ours and it’s going to be a real test of our maturity as a team.”
Inzaghi confirms Thomas Strakosha, Patric, Luiz Felipe and Danilo Cataldi are out, while Felipe Caicedo and Stefan Radu require fitness tests.
The Aquile have nonetheless put together a string of five consecutive Serie A victories.
“Our objective has always been to qualify for the Champions League. It’s very tough, as the teams at the top are marching on at a remarkable pace. We’ve dropped a few points along the way, but we’re up there now and don’t want to ease off. We know there’s a lot more work to be done.”
Ciro Immobile said Lazio are back to the team they were before the lockdown a year ago, when they were top of the Serie A table.
“We do have a different mentality compared to the first half of the season,” agreed the coach. “Over the last month, since the Christmas break, we’ve had almost a complete squad available. It’s also natural that good results boost morale.”
Inzaghi is also in advanced negotiations with Lazio to extend his contract.
“I met with the President, I am very positive about the situation and so is he. We’re at a very advanced stage, I am happy and everyone knows what this club and jersey represent for me.”
