Pippo Inzaghi was pleased with Bologna’s 0-0 draw against fourth-placed Milan and revealed what he said to Gennaro Gattuso.

“We had this Palacio shot in the first half and Donnarumma did well, but for a team in the relegation zone to keep a clean sheet against Milan is a good sign.

“We made a few mistakes and were quite nervous in the circumstances, but I am very satisfied with my players for keeping these forwards quiet.
“I cannot do more than work, so I hope the results start coming and it’ll allow us to play with a little less anxiety. Keeping a clean sheet against Milan is already a good step forward. We have a few regrets over not making the most of some counter-attacks, but to hold out against Cutrone, Higuain, Suso and Calhanoglu, that’s reassuring.
“It was important today to send a signal, fight for every ball and I was happy with that response. The lads read the papers, they know what’s being said about them and there is some sense of feeling intimidated. We’ve conceded some really stupid goals lately and I think we showed clear improvements this evening.”
There was a sweet reunion with former Milan teammate Gennaro Gattuso on the touchline.
“We were a great group, we won so much and were extraordinary. Milan will always be in my heart. I was looking for Rino and he managed to punch me in the back yet again!
“I am happy for Rino, he’s doing very well and deserves every success. We were chatting beforehand and said to each other: ‘Who made us do this for a living? Why are we putting ourselves through it!?’”
