Simone Inzaghi has heaped praise on forward Ciro Immobile for his goals and influence since joining Lazio.

The 26-year-old joined the Biancocelesti over the summer and has since revitalised his career, scoring nine goals so far this season.

“I really wanted him in my team,” Inzaghi said following his side’s 2-1 victory over Sassuolo, in which Immobile once more found the net. “I didn’t know him as a person, but since he arrived he has shown real willingness in training.

“He has scored nine goals, he makes the most of what his teammates give him. I am pleased with what he does during the week too.”

The Coach then expressed his pleasure at his team’s performance against the Neroverdi, with Lazio now up to fourth in Serie A.

“It wasn’t an easy match. It was the third in a week, but we were good.

“The team has done well. It could have been a penalty in the first half that would have enabled us to unlock the game.

“Their goal opened the game up again, but we did well to suffer and become more compact.

“The team is growing, they are showing maximum commitment and they have shown they can do well in an emergency.”

Finally, Inzaghi denied there had been a disagreement with Sassuolo counterpart Eusebio Di Francesco during the match at Stadio Olimpico.

“Absolutely nothing happened, he is a friend of mine. There was a misunderstanding with someone on their bench, but everything has been cleared up.”
