“A normal performance isn’t enough in Ferrara and we learned that the hard way. They’ve been playing together for years with the same Coach and tactics, so they are well-drilled.”
The Biancocelesti started with a 3-0 victory at Sampdoria, but were unlucky in their 1-1 draw with Roma, hitting the woodwork four times.
“There was a real sense of bitterness after the derby, as that performance deserved three points. We’ve got to use that to power us forward tomorrow.
“Valon Berisha will get a chance to play and I am very happy with the way he’s been training. He also scored two goals against England for Kosovo midweek.
“We had a lot of players off on international duty, so I have to evaluate their fitness levels, their fatigue and general condition. A Coach must consider every element and then try to make the best decision.
“It’s nice to see our players do well on international duty and hold the Lazio name high around Europe, but I’d prefer to have them all with me in training.”
The Biancocelesti won the Coppa Italia last season and therefore qualified for the Europa League.
“We must take it one game at a time and not make proclamations, nor set limits on ourselves. We just want to continue improving.”
