The Rossoneri are floundering after two consecutive defeats to Udinese and Genoa, which left them down in 10th place, just one point in front of newly-promoted Palermo.

“When you go to the San Paolo it can only be a positive and we really want to make up for recent results,” the Coach told Milan Channel.

“Those who step on to the field must always be highly motivated and give their all. The only time that was missing was against Udinese.

“Genoa proved on the field that they were a better team on the night. With a perfect performance, we can have our say against Napoli.”

The absentee list includes Jeremy Menez, Ignazio Abate, Suso, Philippe Mexes, Adil Rami and Luca Antonelli.

“We have a squad up to the task,” assured Inzaghi. “We must prove ourselves on the field and this is a great opportunity against a great squad. Don’t forget last time out we had our best performance of the season against Napoli.”

He insisted there was “no warning” that Milan were flagging before the defeat to Udinese.

“Nobody expected it and there was no sign of a problem in training. We probably let go after the derby and then struggled to get back on track. If I saw bad training, it’d be easier to fix the situation.

“In this sense playing against prestigious opponents is an advantage, as a good performance can boost morale.”
