Simone Inzaghi provided an update on his injured stars ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League clash against Bayern Munich.

The Nerazzurri have already booked their spot in the Round of 16 of the competition with one game left to play, taking a little pressure off in their game against the Bavarian giants. Inter’s season started to turn around following positive back to back matches with Barcelona, giving the team much-needed confidence.

Speaking in a press conference, Inzaghi first discussed the differences between the Inter team facing Bayern tomorrow and the one that lost back in September.

“Compared to September we are in better shape, the condition of individuals has grown. Tomorrow does not count for the group, but it will be a game in a beautiful stadium, against one of the best in Europe.

“We want to play a serious, organised match, knowing that there will be difficulties, we find a very strong team, with a deep squad.”

He spoke about star striker Romelu Lukaku and the other injured players in the squad.

“He had a little problem with his scar, when he came on in Saturday’s game. There was a statement from the club, he will have to rest for a few days and then he will be re-evaluated at the end of the week.

“It’s a slowdown that we didn’t want, he was giving us a lot in this period, hopefully we can reuse him before the break.

“Brozovic will hopefully be back on Sunday, then D’Ambrosio stopped and we won’t have him until after the break.”

The Italian coach commented on how much the upcoming Derby d’Italia will influence the game against Bayern Munich.

“We know what game we have on Sunday, something will change but not too much. Today we did something on the pitch, but not too much. In my opinion the team are giving very good answers.”

He touched on the condition of his frontline.

“Dzeko took a knock, Correa is fine, Lautaro is fine, plus we have two Primavera boys who can give us a hand.”

The Inter coach confirmed which goalkeeper will start against Bayern.

“Onana will play, Handanovic is not available and from when we return to Italy he will work to be available again.”

Finally, Inzaghi discussed if tomorrow’s game can be one of redemption for Kristjan Asllani following his mistake in the Barcelona match.

“Beyond that moment that’s behind us, Asllani is growing a lot and he’s putting me in difficulty. As a playmaker Calhanoglu is doing well, tomorrow I’ll evaluate whether as a mezzala or as a regista can be the right match for Asllani.”
