“I don’t really have squad rotation in my mind now, as with five substitutions per game, football has changed,” said the coach in his press conference.

“I always wanted more choice, but tomorrow we are certainly missing Vedat Muriqi and Senad Lulic, then we’ll see for Luiz Felipe and the others.

“I haven’t yet told the squad who is playing in goal, but both Thomas Strakosha and Pepe Reina are strong goalkeepers. It’s not a problem, but rather a strength for Lazio to have two such great choices in goal.”

Lazio impressed again in the Champions League midweek and are close to qualification for the Round of 16, but Inzaghi hopes it won’t act as a distraction.

“We are up against an Udinese side that won its most recent match and has one of the best defensive records in Serie A. I like the coach, Luca Gotti has his own style, and this represents a dangerous game if we’re not fully focused.

“We’ve played two excellent games since the break for international duty, but there’s no time to look back, we need to focus on the next challenge and there will be many from here on.

“I am accustomed to not being among the favourites going into tournaments, but we have the potential to do well and it depends on us.”

Lazio announced they will wear a special edition jersey tomorrow with a message for Diego Armando Maradona, with ‘AD10S’ on a patch.

“We have lost a legend of football and someone I remember with great fondness,” concluded Inzaghi.

“In October 2016, I was already at Lazio and he came here to train ahead of a charity match. He had such warmth and was so open to everyone.”
