Simone Inzaghi says “I think I did well” at Lazio, and hopes to be given the job permanently.

The Coach replaced Stefano Pioli last month, and oversaw a run of four wins and three defeats in his seven games in charge.

“When I started Coaching, my goal was to Coach Lazio, it’s great that it happened,” Inzaghi told reporters as he received the Ussi Prize.

“I think I did well, I caused some doubts for the club. Maybe I could have done more, but I also know that I did something important.

“With great calm I’m waiting for the decision of the club. The club is considering the best thing to do, as it should be. If I’m reappointed I’ll give my all.

“Let’s see, if I’m chosen I’ll be happy and if not I’ll continue my path of growth.

“I hope my future will be here at Lazio, but if that’s not the case then life goes on and work continues.

“Next year we have to restart, Juventus aside this team can compete with anyone.”

Miroslav Klose has left the club after five seasons, and Inzaghi thinks the German striker will be tough to replace.

“He’ll definitely leave a huge void, it’ll be difficult to replace him. The current squad is better than eighth-place, but if there’s one player who shouldn’t be sold it’s [Lucas] Biglia.

“In his role he’s one of the top players in Italy. He has experience and has proven to be Lazio’s real top player. We have to start again with him.”
