Lazio Coach Simone Inzaghi insists Roma and Inter have an advantage in the Champions League race as “we have more matches”.

The three teams are locked in a race for third and fourth in Serie A, with the Biancocelesti currently sitting in third place.

They play their game in hand against Udinese tomorrow, as city rivals Roma play their own postponed game at Sampdoria.

Should the Aquile lose and the Lupi win, all three sides would be locked on 43 points, but with the Giallorossi set to lose Edin Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri, could they be weakened?

“Roma are a very well-equipped team, just like Inter,” Inzaghi cautioned in his pre-match Press conference.

“They [Inter] also only have one match per week, we have more matches even compared to Roma because we have the Europa League and the Coppa Italia.

“In Italy ourselves and Milan will be playing a lot.

“We have to be rational and understand our task and our objectives with humility.

“Expectations have risen, but we need to try and stay humble and understand the moment.

“I repeat, we’ll play more, we won’t have the peace of mind during the week that other teams will have.

“I like the compliments, because the lads deserve them, but we need to stay united and humble as a team and as a club.

“We need to remember where we started from, with a deflated atmosphere and not many people at the stadium.”

Inzaghi was then asked if a win tomorrow would represent a statement to the other teams.

“Tomorrow is a very important game, one I’d have preferred to play at another time, when we could have worked well during the week.

“We’re facing an Udinese team who are in excellent form, they’ve won five of the last nine and are on an excellent run, in recent weeks they’ve only lost to Napoli.

“Will Felipe Anderson or Nani play? I still have training this afternoon and tomorrow morning, I’ll have to see.

“Yesterday those who didn’t play against Chievo trained well, including [Felipe] Caicedo and Nani trained well too.

“I’ll try to choose the best team, there are a lot of matches in quick succession and some could be tired. I’ll take another 24 hours to decide.”

There are several players within one booking of a suspension…

“The hope is not to lose them all in one fell swoop,” Inzaghi said.

“I’ll try to make sure that doesn’t happen, even during the game. I’m more worried about the cycle of games though, but we’re just thinking about Udinese.

“As a Coach I have to see who has recovered best, we have a cycle with a lot of games in a row.

“Injuries? For Ciro Immobile we’re waiting for the results of the tests, they should be here soon so I can’t tell you exactly when he’ll be back right now.

“We hope it’s not serious and he can recover soon. We’ll wait for the response from the medics.

“[Martin] Caceres might be able to play, we’ll see if that’s tomorrow or against Milan. We’re talking about an added value.”
