“We hope to pick up where we left off in 2019, a year where we won two trophies in five-and-a-half months,” said the coach in his press conference.

They beat Atalanta for the Coppa Italia Final in May, then shocked Juventus 3-1 on December 22 to lift the Supercoppa Italiana.

“We must be aware of our capabilities, but at the same time humble, because danger is always just around the corner. We haven’t played for two weeks, so we must immediately get back on point and be the real Lazio giving 110 per cent against Brescia.

“I’ve warned the team that all the other sides are stepping up a gear too, so we require the same spirit of sacrifice seen over the last two months.”

Luis Alberto and Lucas Leiva are suspended, but Capocannoniere Immobile has recovered from a bout of flu.

“Immobile fortunately only missed one training session, as the fever lasted for 36 hours, but he was back in the group this morning. Danilo Cataldi remains a doubt and he’ll certainly play if he is in shape, but we have to decide along with my staff.

“Luis Alberto’s role can be filled by Marco Parolo, but also Senad Lulic, Jony, Valon Berisha or Joaquin Correa. We all needed a break and it was emotional coming back to that training session with the supporters there showing their affection.

“Our self-confidence has grown over those unforgettable evenings in Riyadh and in the Coppa Italia Final. We ended 2019 on a high, now we are up against a Brescia side in good shape that would be out of the relegation zone if not for a last-gasp Parma equaliser.

“They have Mario Balotelli, who has great quality and put himself up for the challenge in his home town.”

Inzaghi also confirmed reports Eibar midfielder Gonzalo Escalante has been lined up for when his contract expires in June.

“He is a good player, I know the club is monitoring him, but not for right now. We’ll see what happens from here to the end of the season.”
