“There has been too much talk about Keita, but once the transfer window closed he got back into the group very well with the right spirit and everyone appreciates that,” said the Coach in a Press conference.

Senegal international Keita was frozen out after going AWOL from training and protesting at a “lack of respect” for him.

“He is at our full disposal and will play tomorrow, though I don’t know yet whether it’ll be from the start or not. It’s up to him to make the most of his opportunities.

“I think Keita knows that I have faith in him. After what happened, he may well have to earn back the trust of his teammates, but he’s working well and can be an added value for the squad.”
Lazio lost 4-0 at the Bentegodi last season, though that was just days after the heart-breaking Champions League play-off defeat.

“Chievo represent a complicated opponent, as they are well-drilled and organised. They deservedly beat Inter in the opening round and were unlucky not to draw at Fiorentina.

“They have a consolidated system and play with great intensity. We must take the initiative, even though we will be under pressure at times. It’ll be tough, but we cannot repeat what happened last year.”

Luis Alberto impressed in a friendly after his transfer from Liverpool, but won’t get his Serie A debut yet.

“We were missing an element and Luis Alberto brings great quality. He is lacking match fitness, so I haven’t called him up for tomorrow. I prefer him to get his fitness levels on a par with his teammates first,” continued Inzaghi.

“All teams have players who both attack and defend. The Olympics were good for Felipe Anderson and he’s in good shape. Ciro Immobile is settling in quickly, is very generous and any Coach would love to work with him.”

Lazio squad for Chievo: Strakosha, Hoedt, De Vrij, Patric, Cataldi, Lukaku, Kishna, Basta, Djordjevic, Felipe Anderson, Wallace, Keita, Bastos, Parolo, Immobile, Lulic, Biglia, Milinkovic-Savic, Marchetti, Lombardi, Radu, Vargic, Murgia
